Hi! In this post, I would like to tell you about my experience trekking in Lorong Lumut, Bandung. I went there with Mr. Lee, using a trekking service called WalktoForest Club. I found them on Instagram and decided to use their service, considering that they are the only trekking service that I found trustworthy. I chose the one-day trekking package with a destination to Lorong Lumut, which you can find in their package called "Glimpse of Lorong Lumut, Jayagiri." This is categorized as a medium trek considering that you have to cover around 9 km from the start in Jayagiri to the finish in Gunung Putri. There will be six places that you are expected to visit throughout the trek: pine forest, coffee plantation, Jayagiri peak, Lorong Lumut, Benteng Belanda, and Gunung Putri. To reach this place, you can go to Wana Wisata Jayagiri; however, there is no public transportation available, so you need to bring your own vehicle and park at the entrance.

A glimpse of information about Lorong Lumut: it is located in Jayagiri, Kecamatan Lembang, Bandung Barat. This place looks like a corridor flanked by cliffs covered with moss, with a height of around 5-8 meters and a length of 200 meters. It is located inside the Jayagiri forest, which is still pristine. Historically, this place used to be a culvert built in corridor structures during Dutch colonization decades ago. The dense vegetation and damp conditions due to the moss make your daytime trekking experience less scorching.

During the trek, you will visit Warung Mak Idah, one of the most notorious places in Jayagiri, located at the peak of Jayagiri. This place is a small house occupied by an elderly woman rumored to have lived there since 1973, living alone. She supplies all her electricity using solar panels since the electricity cannot reach her place in the middle of Jayagiri forest. She has 3 or 4 solar panels installed on her roof tiles. What makes it more fascinating is that Mak Idah herself inspired the group Bimbo to make a song called "Melati di Jayagiri," which was published in 1971.

The only thing you need to bring during trekking is water; you don't have to worry about lunch since it is included in the package. The trek itself is Instagram-worthy, as the vegetation in Jayagiri is almost similar to that in Gunung Putri, which I find aesthetically pleasing. After reaching Jayagiri, around 45 minutes into the trek, you will find an abandoned fortress built during Dutch colonization. One hour later, you will reach the final destination, Gunung Putri, where you can take photos in the pine forest along the way. In conclusion, it took us around 4 hours from the starting point in Jayagiri to the finishing point in Gunung Putri.

If you want to visit Lorong Lumut, it is open from Monday to Sunday, from 9 am to 5 pm GMT+7. You can use Bandung trekking service, which will guide you not only to Lorong Lumut but also to other destinations included in the package, to prevent you from getting lost in the forest. Overall, it was such a nice experience, especially for those looking for a quick nature getaway not far from Jakarta. Recommended!
